Daniel,
Your ability to communicate such a delicate message is amazing.
Gingerland is going into rotation with my new grandson, hopefully I will be around to read it to him. At a recent auction I picked up a metal box filled with mint condition, mid century 1958-1968 ish children's 45 rpm records. All the old school children's marches, songs, silly stories and more from the estate of a deceased elementary school teacher active during that era.
Sure I could chase the dollar and sell these for a couple, three five hundred all profit. Whats a 50 to 1 return compared to the thought of my child's, child sitting nearby, enraptured in song & storybook land.
Thank you for Gingerland, I hope this renews people's faith in Christmas, magic and living a decent life.~ Billy Burke
And, the short and sweet:
You should sell these! Or some variation of Christmas cards. I would totally buy them! ~ Heather Smith
Plus the ❤️s are always nice if you’re short on time.
But, please, when you finish Chapter 7, we urge you to leave behind a few words. Tell us if you liked it or whether it stacked up to Chapter 6. Tell us whether you like the direction the story is heading, what you’d like to see more of or could do with less of.
Tell us who your favorite character is (now would be opportune, because we’ll be introducing a bunch of them in the next few chapters).
Tell us why you’re here. Are you just a sucker for Christmas stories? Do you have a child in your life you wish to share this one with? Are you a fan of my previous work, like Carnivàle, The Blacklist and The Astronauts?
Even better, tell us about yourselves. Tell us your favorite Christmas memory. Or about the gift you always wanted but never got.
Remember, we’re all building this house together. Your paid subscriptions directly contribute to hiring an illustrator and getting the word out into the world. And everyone knows how much more quickly hard work goes when you have a chat with the person next to you.
So kindly push the button below and leave behind a few words. Let the world know who really built Gingerland!
Dan, this is so good. You've not only captured the classic children's story, which we sorely miss, but you've added your own wit and wild imagination. What's great is that you're subtly introducing that there are other worlds than the "real" one we know and take for granted - that life is vaster than "Gingerland." Well Done!
Merci Beaucoup, Cheri!
Diane
An artful delight!
